vd6VD6 “universal” instrument for data visualization to 6 digits for electrical equipment with PLC-PC- microprocessor.

The “VD6” data visualization instrument to 6 digits is suitable to display any variable from any device with a microprocessor control system. It is equipped with a microprocessor, is for general use because it allows to display any number whether it is representative of a speed, space, length, weight, alarm code etc.

This instrument is universal because it can display any figure of 6 numbers and can also display some symbols that can be associated with meanings suitable to each application. The data to display is transmitted on two wires, data and clock, at greater distances. One of the signals, the clock, may be in common with multiple instruments. In summary, with the creation of a part of the software, we can display any data with a maximum of 6 digits BCD with the “VD6” instrument which is in our PLC or PC microprocessor system.

  • in case of adverse weather conditions a shielded cable should be used for data and clock signals, therefore the connection with the SCH terminal. In this case the ground terminal must be connected
  • in the case of several instruments the clock can the same for all (e.g. 5 instruments – use 1 clock and 5 data for a Total of 6 outputs!)
  • synchronous transmission at different speeds, the instrument recognizes the transmission speed and thus self-synchronizes on the transmission clock
  • receive data in mode 1 (internally selectable) with signal recognition on the clock front. Transmission time of 6-digit data in function of the clock period: if T = 10msec it is about 260msec (communication time Tc= (no. of digits)* 4+2) *T)
  • receive data in mode 2 (internally selectable) with signal recognition on the clock front. Transmission time of 6-digit data in function of the clock period: if T = 10msec it is about 130msec (communication time Tc= (no. of digits)* 4+2) *T)
  • Minimum time for clock period = 8msec
  • Minimum number of digits to be transmitted is equal to 2

Program to be implemented in the automation system having the following characteristics:

  • for each display the following symbols can be seen: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, A, L, H, – , E ,   ,

The symbols can be used to indicate the max. reached value (H), the minimum value (L), the” –“ sign, the writing ALL (for alarms) with the subsequent alarm codes.
